L. David Patterson, Hawthorne City Treasurer
A native of Southern California, L. David Patterson has spent the last 20 years in service to his community and fellow man. David has been actively involved in the city of Hawthorne, volunteering his time to various non-profits as well as community organizations such as the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce, the Hawthorne Economic Development Council, and Hawthorne Teen Center.
In November 2013, L. David Patterson became the first African American to be elected City Treasurer to the City of Hawthorne and was officially sworn in December 10, 2013. In 2018 David was re-elected to another four year term as Treasurer, winning 70% of the vote.
David has over 20 years of experience as a Business Consultant and Investment Advisor with a background in Insurance, Investments, Taxes, and Real Estate.
His educational background includes an Associates of Arts degree in English from El Camino Community College, a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, as well as a Master of Science Degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from Capella University. David is currently completing his PhD in Business Psychology, with an expected completion date of 2021.
David holds the following professional licenses; Series 7, 6, 63, 66, 26 securities licenses, Life & Health Licenses, Property & Casualty Licenses, and Real Estate Brokers license.
L. David Patterson is currently a candidate for Hawthorne City Council, on the ballot for Nov. 3rd, 2020. As Councilman David's priorities will be Financial Transparency, Economic Development, and providing Pandemic Support to the community.
